The Project includes 25 culvert sites that have been organized into two contracts as follows due to significant geographic dispersal of the sites:
The proposed improvements include:
Improvements are tentatively scheduled to begin for both GWP 3042-11-00 and GWP 3054-16-00 in 2017, subject to funding and approvals. The proposed work at all culvert sites included in GWP 3042 11 00 will be completed in three construction seasons (i.e., June to November 2017, April to November 2018, and April to November 2019). The proposed work at all culvert sites included in GWP 3054-16-00 will be completed in one construction season (i.e., June to November 2017). Construction will be undertaken concurrently, with the order of sites depending on the contractor’s scheduling and regulatory restrictions (i.e., in-water construction timing windows).
The following outlines construction staging and traffic impacts at the sites.
Culvert Replacements at Sites 2-448/C, 2-463/C, 4-320/C, 25-340/C, 25-344/C, 35-594/C, 9-161/C, and 8-623/C:
Minor Rehabilitation at 16 culvert sites and Major Rehabilitation at Site 8-342/C:
At 15 culvert sites, the construction duration will be shortened to minimize traffic impacts by undertaking night-time operations including culvert waterproofing, excavation, and backfilling. This includes Sites 12-432/C, 12-433/C, 12-434/C, 12-435/C, 4-320/C, 4-21/C, 25-334/C, 25-335/C, 25 336/C, 25-339/C, 25-341/C, 25-343/C, 8-342/C, and 8-623/C in GWP 3042-11-00 and Site 9 161/C in GWP 3054-16-00. Noise by-law exemptions have been obtained from the Township of Melancthon and Municipality of West Perth to permit 24-hour continuous construction and associated single-lane staging with continuous flagging to a maximum of four nights per site. The Contractor will be required to notify property owners within 200 m of the affected sites two weeks in advance of construction. Noise by-law exemption applications are currently submitted and are expected to be secured with the Municipality of North Perth, Township of Chatsworth, Haldimand County, and Municipality of West Grey.
